RITUAL
remembering ourselves as holy, whole, and wise
“It’s as if yoga, therapy, and a poetry slam were all woven together into one life-giving, soul-enhancing experience.”
“It’s as if yoga, therapy, and a poetry slam were all woven together into one life-giving, soul-enhancing experience.”
A new moon can not be seen (unless it’s a solar eclipse) because it crosses the sky with the sun during the day, with the moon's shadow side pointed towards Earth. This is considered a sacred time to look at, be with, and better understand our own shadow side. The new moon also signifies new emotional cycles & fresh starts. In general, it’s a beautiful time for re-sets and accessing the deeper wisdom of our bodies.
The breathwork practice you’ll be guided through on the new moon clears your auric field, another way to think about this, is it re-sets your inner atmosphere or tone.
We’ll open by grounding into the new moon theme, then get deeply embodied through myofascial release and the aura-clearing breathwork practice. This will open you to deeper connection with yourself and ground you deeply in the present moment. We close with space for writing from the body with one single, yet powerful writing prompt and optional sharing.
Bring your yoga mat, TWO tennis balls, + a journal/pen
During a Full Moon, the Moon is sitting opposite the Sun and is fully illuminated by the light of it. Because of this state of illumination, the Full Moon is considered a night of clear seeing and releasing pent-up energy and blockages (which is why each full moon we will convene for deep somatic release work).
The breathwork practice you’ll be guided through is an active meditation technique that uses the breath to purge the body and nervous system of emotional residue.
The combination of deep fascial bodywork, mixed with this powerful breathwork meditation creates an internal environment of deep awareness and connection, enabling you to access non-ordinary states of consciousness by turning down the cognitive “thinking” part of your brain. In this more sovereign state, it’s easier to experience creative insights, intuitive discernment, breakthroughs, transformation, and profound healing.
We’ll ground into our theme, then dive into about 4-5 writing prompts related to the full moon theme. After, we’ll begin the beautiful and profound body + breathwork healing, leaving room at the end for questions and sharing.
Bring a journal + something to write with, along with TWO tennis balls, socks, a cozy blanket, and a flat pillow
Taking space for a sacred pause is an act of self-love.
The body is a river of wisdom. We must learn to listen to it.
Space. Time. Reflection…the world will tell you this is a luxury.
It is not.
It’s a necessity.
RITUAL is for the healers, teachers, artists, creators, givers, doers. It is for the 'too busy' person, the one who tends to get 'burnt out' or 'spun out' all too often. It’s for the wholehearted souls who can find themselves indecisive and full of self-doubt when ‘pushing’ or trying to do it all alone. This means you’re likely also a creative, giving, curious, deep caring human who thrives in community and when given small nudges of guidance through embodiment, journaling, and being seen/heard. You know the power of wisdom and you know its impact on your life...and most of all you know you need time to pause, to give space for wisdom to take your hand and whisper in your ear what you couldn't hear through all the noise.
*To ensure you devote space for RITUAL, put the dates and times in your calendar. Dates/times can be found on MY LIVEKICK homepage HERE
*Bring TWO tennis balls to both rituals.
*RITUALS are held on Zoom (with music) via Livekick enrollment
The flow is both silky and strong, focusing on clearing stuck energy in the body and mind through accessing your subtle body. In a D.R.M class, you will use the breath and mindfulness to stay connected to sensation, gracefully moving through postures as if you’re moving through saltwater or doing Qi gong, letting the breath become radiant in its guidance. In the last 10 minutes of class, we go deeper into balancing the nervous system by doing self-myofascial release using tennis balls. The result is a heart-centering, body-opening, and soul-expanding release. D.R.M will challenge you, illuminate you, and create an incredibly strong and resilient body and mind.
Somatic breathwork is based off the work of David Elliot’s 2-part Pranayama Meditation. Its effects can be likened to holotropic and/or Wim Hof breathwork, though I find this practice to be more accessible and heart-opening in nature. I incorporate breath retentions, along with bodywork and somatic release. It’s VERY powerful and transformative work.
In both the new and full moon we not only do embodiment practices, but we also engage in deep reflective journaling with writing prompts. The prompts are deeply insightful and also open you up to your innate creative self-expression. Often in the shares, it feels as though we’re experiencing deep healing through hearing a piece of another’s experience.
Yoga, breathwork, meditation, and writing practices can be VERY energetic methods intended to awaken the subtle body and its innate ability to heal. From learning to self-regulate your nervous system to enhancing your intuition, these practices will have a profound impact on you energetically.
“Been reflecting on last night. It felt really good to let all that out - to speak it. Writing it felt maybe like a prayer, but saying it felt like it made it real, like speaking a new reality into existence. It felt like letting my heart have a voice by writing, and in hearing myself say it I was able to see and hear my heart, and its power. Plus, vaguely it felt like I was participating in a poetry slam. Which was also very cool. “
